Great story about the Romanian children. It really tells us that there is so much underlying history to everything that if we judge only what our eyes see at the moment, we miss, perhaps, most of the story.
As far as the book, I have read MANY of these types of books, and for me these titles have become cautionary, “Anyone can do it” implies that if you don’t, there is something wrong, and you need to “try harder” “think better thoughts”…..
Amazing Story! Thank you!
The breaking of the toys created an image of self sabotage…
To some degree we all do it.
Well unlike the Romanian children…we do not need to break our toys, limit ourselves, and throw away our gifts. We CAN do it. Symbolically, Overcoming our fears, taking the chance and the opportunities when presented.
Issamar, very interesting example with the toy. They were determined to keep it. That’s what you call all means necessary if you don’t give it to me i’m going to take it. Thanks for the info.
Thank you for sharing this moving story.
Children are once again a great source of inspiration.
By following them beyond appearances and thinking deeper, we can find out “the” reality.
“Breaking the toys” is an amazing lesson. Not only for business strategy but for life!
It illustrates so well how we tend to misunderstand the messages people are sending us. How easy would it be to think those kids were simply ungrateful?
Likewise, we should understand our own message may not be received as intended…
Recently I asked on a popular business website – “What part of marketing do you hate doing?”
While I was trying to gain understanding about marketing problems and craft better solutions – most of the answers were from other marketing people who “just loved everything about marketing”.
Same lesson: we need to pay more attention to the real message and make sure our own message is understood as intended.

Well, as the late Jim Rohn said…
Affirmation without Action is Delusion!
The thoughts need to be positive, but there has to be hard, smart work along with it…
