What generic advice can I give someone in the service/support field?

Hmm…

Samuel Asked:

What generic advice can you give someone in the service/support field?

Well, lets see. Generic Advice is hard to give about some areas.. for example, coming up with  a USP for your business would be kind of rediculuos because if i can give it to you, it can be given to six of your competetiors as well, and thereofre would no longer be unique.

having said that, let’s discuss a little bit about your business:

1) What market are you servcing? is it local businesses, homeowners, schools?

2) How did you get your current client base?

3) what forms of advertsing have you used in the past, and how successful were they? remember, if an ad brings you one customer, then the cost of that ad should be divided among all sales for the life of that customer and their referrals as well.  So a $500 ad that brings in a $100 first time tehc call doesn’t qualify as a bad ad at all.

answer this, and we’ll talk.

Samuel, first reader dear, how about you do your part in this challenge and actually follow the advice i’ll be giving you? and post your results here, live, for all to see?

Well, sorry about that. My Internet connection was down were I was yesterday! I know, I know, the shoemaker goes barefoot (no kids you see)…

    Anyways, what is a USP?

    1) I service all of the above.

    2) Advertising in two print publications

    3) Pretty sucessful but I don’t have a way to really track it. I do ask every customer where they got my number.
