Where do I get the pickles.  It also illustrates people being small minded and envious. That may have a good deal to do with what happened.

You also illustrated the value of expert third party validation.  The street person had nothing personally to gain from letting someone know the value. That made his worlds even more trustworthy.

So you see, you did all of us a great service by bringing us this story. You did even more by having a story that when read properly makes other points. So just like the painting in your story, YOUR story is worth at least double its value.
